Mother's Day.......e una Festa!

Sunday is usually a sleepy day around here - skeleton staff and much more low key with the meals. Today was the same - laundry, naps, time in the garden and lots of boats anchored in the cove beneath the villa. The number of kayakers up and down the coastline seems to increase each day as summer nears. We could watch all this activity for hours.

The weather was beautiful & Signore Gianni suggested we eat lunch outside - which everyone jumped at. We all squeezed around the big table on the main terrace. After a lazy afternoon, we went down to the garden to explore a bit then met Robin late in the day for a trip to Nervi to the Blue Marlin - one of our favorite places. In order to get a bit of exercise we walked almost to Nervi Harbor before turning back to the Blue Marlin. Being Sunday, the passeggiata was very busy.  Hanging out on the terrace of the Blue Marlin was very relaxing but eventually we had to return for dinner.

After dinner we all headed up the very, very steep hill to Villa Orbiana - one of the two villas housing four of the fellows further up the hillside.  Marian & Ilona (Bratislava) were hosting a party on the rooftop of their villa.  Marian had prepared all sorts of food, drinks & music but the star attraction was the view, which is very different than ours, and breathtaking.  As the night fell it became all the more beautiful, with lights all down the coast. It was a lot of fun just relaxing before these final few days play out.  Several fellows are traveling a bit this week - into Genoa again and Turin but we are planning on staying put for the most part. We'll see....
