The day started out quiet enough. We are developing a pattern of showing up for breakfast 5 minutes later each day. The buffet opens at 7:45 and is supposed to be over around 9:00. Today we arrived at about 8:40......and cleared out the dishes onto the trolley at about 9:10. Quite a few people are traveling for a couple of days, so it was particularly quiet. Stewart and Dominique are still back in New York for the opening of Stewart's opera. Adriana and Daniel just left this morning for Lugano with their nephew for a long weekend. Pierre flew out at 6 this morning to go to Paris, and then Normandy for a 2 day trip. Quite a bit of activity!
The day ended up with short visits to Nervi, Bogliasco, Camogli and Recco. We had not planned it that way......it just developed. In the morning we went to Nervi to explore a nice street of shops and galleries that we had driven through last week. In the afternoon we walked into Bogliasco to go to the grocery store and explore a bit. In the evening we went with Robin to Camogli, as he had not seen it yet......and the three of us ended up having dinner in Recco (we had seen that a strange kind of baked fish was on the menu, so we opted to go out for pizza)! It was a great day, but a bit exhausting! (1,167 steps - 5.19 miles!)
Even with all the activity of the day, we had a chance to squeeze a couple of hours in the studio......a few image collections are attached. We will show some more of the painting developments tomorrow......maybe!
Nervi
We walked up the main shopping street in Nervi - dodging the palm tree pruners along the way - they've been busy for weeks! We discovered a beautiful little children's shop so did a little shopping for the bambino & bambina. Italians LOVE children, so the clothing here is beyond beautiful for children. Bogliasco
A bit of shopping, a friendly pooch and long walk back by the sea....
Camogli
We arrived late in the day - the shops were all closed for the evening but the restaurants were busy on a beautiful night. Walked down to the harbor to see the preparations for the annual fish festival being held the second Sunday in May. The picture below is a support system and huge frying pan for the festival! Fishing is huge to this area - especially anchovies - so this is a very important festival.
Recco
We drove from Camogli back into Recco, which seemed also very quiet..... but then we walked into Pizzeria del Ponte, which was packed! We got the last table & the pizza was delicious! Oddly enough, the pizzeria is owned by former water polo players, who have swimming photos hanging around the room and a long. encouraging quote painted on the wall from Michael Phelps! As best we can interpret it means "don't put a limit on anything before you have gone the distance."
