Relais Villa d'Amelia

After a bit of an adventure escaping the airport rental garage, things settled down and we headed off to Benevello, about a 2  hour drive north and west of Milano. The saving grace was Google Maps and Siri.......both working without a hitch.  Even with guidance, however, the drive had its tricky moments as we got off the autostrada and moved through the countryside, particularly with which road to take out of the roundabouts!

We arrived at the hotel around 2:00, just in time for a light lunch in the courtyard.  These folks were really hospitable, and fully understanding about our cancellation for the first night stay due to our travel delay.

Lunch was great........a long nap was great.........a long walk was fantastic.........another nap was great.......and dinner was simply amazing.  The hotel has very old roots on the site (8th century), with the most recent construction by a count and his family that expanded the estate until its sale and conversion to a hotel in 2009.  They did a beautiful job with the buildings and the landscape.......as well as the provision of what has become a Michelin Star restaurant.
