Finally underway, right on
time with the scheduled 6:00 p.m. departure. The first hour was quite beautiful
as we had various layers of clouds and setting sun. Drinks and dinner were served fairly early
into the flight, as I think they wanted to allow ‘sleepers’ to get their lights
out quickly, especially due to the rather short duration of the flight.
We had a very nice meal with
some champagne and wine and then stretched out to try to get a bit of
rest. The seats folded flat to make a
small bed ‘chaise.’ It was fun to ‘drive’
our seats into position, comfortable with quite a bit of stretch out room. It was, however, really confusing to our body
clocks! and we never fell totally asleep. The way the timing worked out, we
arrived in Dublin at 5:00 a.m., which was really midnight for us……..very
strange.
The arrival in Dublin was
rather uneventful. In fact, it was a bit
eerie as there was virtually no one in the airport. We went through Security and baggage claim
without seeing anyone other than those that were getting off our plane. We were out of the airport and getting into a
cab within about 15 minutes. We decided
the best thing to do was go to the hotel and see if there was any chance that
we could get into our room early (very early!).
