Una Giornata di Camminare.......e Molti Passi!

Another wonderful, sunny day in Bogliasco. This morning our entire group was taken on a tour of all 3 of the villas, the art and music studios & gardens - beginning with a hike up a very, very steep road into the hills behind us. The two villas were much more contemporary than ours with amazing views down the coast while the studios were quite rustic. One of the villas was originally occupied solely by the governess & young children of the couple who occupied our villa down by the sea! The hike down the hill took us through the gardens & olive tree groves.

Arriving back at Villa dei Pini, we moved further down the hillside through the garden paths, arriving at the small conference building.  Before lunch we also took a tour of the Villa itself and had a chance to see the other fellows rooms and studios.  After two hours of walking we had a short break before gathering for lunch.

Breakfast and lunch each day are served buffet style.  The group gathering at meals is an important part of the culture.  We are also joined by the three Foundation staff......for a total of 12-15.

Camminare in Città

Later in the afternoon - having to wait until siesta ends at 4-4:30 as everything is closed - we walked into Bogliasco to find the supermarket. On the way we ran into another 'fellows couple'  who recommended a cafe with a very friendly staff and an amazing view so we set off to find it. Great place with beautiful views & delicious gelato. Stopped & watched surfers on our way back - learned later that Bogliasco is the original home of Italian surfing!

Make no mistake, we are getting our exercise here.  The topography is astounding, which makes for some amazing views.......and some significant steps!

Wednesday          6,139 steps       2.85 miles
Thursday              9,414 steps       4.38 miles

Torna a Villa dei Pini
Thought it would be fun to show you where we hang out when we have the urge to work.  We have started on our sketching and painting..........but it is taking us some time to 'limber up!'  Hopefully we will catch our rhythm in the next few days.
