Una giornata incredibile ........ possiamo vedere la Francia!

The weather has only continued to improve.  We awoke this morning to an amazingly clear sunrise.  As the light came over the Ligurian Hills behind us, the visibility to the horizon was almost unlimited........and not a cloud in the sky.  At breakfast, a group of us went out onto the terrace to enjoy the view.  One of the most remarkable aspects was the appearance of snow-capped Alps.  It turns out these mountain tops were in France, and included Mont Blanc.  We checked on the internet and found out that Mont Blanc is approximately 175 miles away!  Quite extraordinary!

In any case, the day was unquestionably set up for some excursions!  The morning was spent walking through Bogliasco, while the afternoon trip was further east to San Rocco di Camogli.  In between, we actually did get some work done in the Studio! and grabbed a late afternoon siesta!

Bogliasco and Market Day Again!

This morning we walked into Bogliasco for market day - which runs the gamut from clothing & shoes to vegetables, cheeses & salumi - boar, fennel & donkey! Walking along the passeggiata by the sea, we ran into another fellow who introduced us to her 3 new Italian friends from Bar Centro (coffee bar).  We circled around to the beach & eventually wound up in Bar Centro ourselves for a cappuccino before walking back to the villa.

Men Working in the Pine Trees

Earlier today we had awoken to the sound of tree landscaping men setting up shop on a very large pine tree just outside our windows.  They prune the trees frequently along the coast so the winds don/t topple them and today was all day affair for this tree!

San Rocco di Camogli

San Rocco is about a 30 minute drive down the coast.  It is out on the Portofino peninsula and is the last village that you can reach by car from the western side.  To get to Portofino and Santa Margarita, you must drive inland on the main road and approach them from the east.  Bogliasco is just to the left of the map below.

The drive was fairly dramatic, but we are getting used to steep and curvy roads.......so it was a bit more enjoyable today.  The town is quite small, but perched on an amazing promontory.  We arrived at around 3:00, and by 3:30, the famous little bakery in town was open again for the afternoon.  We had a great torta snack (one apple and one pear).  This landscape with this weather is more beautiful that we could have imagined.
